Sweet Moments of Craziness

Yesterday was a gorgeous day so after we finished up our dinner I took the kids outside while my wonderful husband put most of the food away and loaded the dishwasher. I was thrilled I had a break from the domestic side of life and could actually do what he usually does...nothing! I know, I know, I am about to have all kinds of men tell me that they work hard for a living, yada, yada, yada. I am not denying that. My hubby works his tail off too, that's not what I am talking about. Most of you women can probably relate to what I am saying, men just are into dishes.
So as I am outside looking around watching the kids throw sand into each others hair, I am actually smiling. I had the fleeting thought of 'Oh my goodness, that's gonna be terrible to wash out.' You know what, they didn't get that bath I was thinking about. Instead, we broke out the stroller and went for an hour long walk down the gravel road and threw rocks at the telephone poles. That is the kids favorite thing to do. We keep a running score of who can hit the pole the most, or be the first to reach ten.
I just love the time together as a family, even if the kids are arguing about who really made it to ten first. The nice fresh air just makes all the difference in the world. Being stuck in the house all winter has made the kids testy and defiant. The warm weather relaxes the senses and brings out the sweetness in them.
I was enjoying myself so much and feeling so loved and relaxed, that when I went back into the house and seen that the butter had been left out and was starting to melt...I wasn't the least bit upset!!
