Going Green...??

I have been reading books, blogs, articles and whatever else is out there on how to live the green life. It is very interesting to know that it will be easy to do!!

There are not that many things that I would have to give up to be "green". And I am only talking about personal, household products. I am not even into food yet. Although that SHOULD be where I start!!

With the multiple ingredients in most products that I cannot pronounce and the health risks that are involved with those ingredients, I am seriously re-thinking my way of buying and living.

I am already at an advantage because I make a few of my own bath and body items, but learning to discern the labels will be difficult. I think I am going to get a pocket sized note pad and write all the "bad" ingredients down so I can check the product before I buy it.

I typically buy only Windex to clean all the surfaces in my home, but substitute with lemon juice and vinegar at times. When I run out of Windex, I will only use the natural stuff.

I also do not use that many personal care items...ok, after I wrote that, had a type-o, re-wrote it and re-read it, I thought about it and realized I DO use alot of items. I just thought I didn't. But I can go without some or change what I do use.

There will be some items that I will not do without even though it is not considered "green". Items like diapers and baby wipes are things that I know can be done better, but I am to lazy!! Just being honest! I do make my own wipes to cut costs, but they are not reusable.

Cost may be my biggest challenge. We are a family of 5 on one small income. I personally look for the cheapest item that hopefully has a coupon to go along with it.

Well, I guess I could go partial green...make what I can, buy what I can afford, and at least lessen my carbon footprint. A little is better than nothing at all!! So wish me luck, and hopefully I have encourage someone else to consider being a little more healthy...next I will look at foods!! OH LORD HELP US!!  LOL!!

If anyone has some great tips/tricks, or products that they use that are "green" I would LOVE to hear from you!!
