This past weekend my husband, father-in-law, my 5 year old boy, my sister and I went camping. This was an experience worth telling about.

We went to Versailles Missouri to a Swap meet and originally I was not sure I wanted to go. But my father-in-law persuaded me by saying that there were other vendors there besides livestock. So I whipped up some products and ventured out.

I am glad that I did. I met some wonderful people and got great exposure to my small business. I have never seen anything like what I did at this trip. There were thousands of people streaming in non stop all day Friday and Saturday. I was amazed at the mass number of people!! And vendors galore, I really should have taken pictures!! Unfortunately I didn't get much time to do alot. I did visit some vendors and purchased some goods, and also got to talk to alot of knowledgeable people.

I met this one young woman that I would love to have become fast friends with. I think the only barrier would be that she is a Mennonite lady and has no access to a computer or a phone. To bad I didn't get directions to her house, that would have been some great times together. She made jellies and soap. I am such a soap fanatic its unreal. Shhh...don't tell my husband, but I bought 6 bars of soap there at the sale!! From 3 different vendors!! hehehe...

The only drawback was the dust!! People were walking, driving four wheelers, gators, dune buggies, trucks, whatever all over the place. Dust was flying all day long. I had to wipe my table down constantly!!

When I got home, I washed twice...one time to get the dirt off, the next to get clean...hahaha...I heard that from a friend! Besides the dirt, camping out was great. We roasted hotdogs and hamburgers, and did some family connecting!!

I had a wonderful time, met some great people and gained some knowledge...life doesn't get any better than that!!

  2. Good thing you had the soap dept covered for your wash up. Sounds like a fun time. I would have loved to sit and chat it up with the Mennonite woman. Their lifestyle fascinates me.
