Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to the new house we go!!

We are in the process of packing and cleaning to get ready to move on Saturday. I am sorry I have not been on here as often as I should be. I feel as though I have neglected one of my babies!!

In the process of packing I have realized I have a ton of "crap"!!! I mean, where did all this stuff come from??!! My hubby tends to call me a hoarder, but I know I am not that bad....or am I? Nah, I can throw things away!!

Lucky for me, the town up from the one we are moving to is having a city wide yard sale the weekend after we move in!! My very best friend (besides my hubs) has let me store all my "junk" until the sale!! WHOO-HOO!!

I cannot tell you all the stuff I have went through and decided to let go of. I say let go because it was no easy task emotionally detaching myself from some of these items. My quest for a more simplistic lifestyle started a while back and is still carrying over into the now. I recently read a book (a free ebook!!!) about minimalism-I dont plan to go all the way! but some ideas were great!! Anyway, it talked about how we as consumers buy into the lies that we have to have such and such product to feel good about ourselves.
I will be the first to admit that at times this has happened to me!!

After reading this woman's ideas on how to live a more simple, stress free life, I thought I would try some of it. So off I went as I was packing up my things looking at each item and asking myself, do I NEED this?? yes, ok, in the box. No?? Ok, do I really WANT this?? Can I live WITHOUT it??? How often do I actually USE this item?? (Those are the series of questions I was to ask myself to help me decide.) I will tell you, some items I wrestled with, others were a breeze to let go.

The whole idea behind pairing down is...less stuff in the home, less stuff to clutter it up, less to clean!! More space in the home, the better it will look and feel. This principle also applies to clothing. Keep only what you actually wear...this area I had the hardest time with!!!

I got down to about half my closet, and I consider that awesome!! But I do not think I can get to ONLY 7 pairs of bottoms (for me that is skirts) and only 10 tops!! Hello!! I do dress up alot, so I need way more than just 10 tops. I need regular tops for outings, and tops for church!!

No one said you had to follow ALL the rules, just what fits for YOU!! I feel great about what I have done. I feel liberated to get some junk from outta my trunk (or...my house!! LOL!!) I think I am getting rid of about 1/3 of my house....less to pack, less to clean, less stress!!

I am claiming that in JESUS NAME!!!

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
