Master bedroom de-cluttering

My bedroom is the worst in the house! I know what you are thinking, how can that be...well, it be!!

This is where I put all my laundry, and this is where I hide everything when I have company so sometimes it will sit for a few days after they have left.
Also with the move we made, we downsized our living space and had a new baby. This has made for tight quarters.

Also in the master bedroom I have 2 large chest of drawers and 2 plastic containers on wheels that hold clothing as well.
I have downsized our clothing considerably, but we still need those big over sized dressers!!

Ok, so when I began de-cluttering I started in my closet, but this will be touched on in an entirely different post.

I emptied out each dresser one at a time and decided what I wanted to keep and what I could get rid of. I kept only what I used all the time!! If it was only for special occasions I got rid of it....Those occasions for me were few and far between so for me this was ok, it may not be ok for you to get rid of something you would use more than once a year or so.

Then after all these were done and I was satisfied I cleaned out my night stands. I put everything on my bed and went item by item back into the drawer, trash or where it belongs.

Then, I looked at everything that was ontop of the dressers, how many what nots are there? I did not need all those, and besides they get knocked over when I put my folded laundry up there ;-)

I kept only what was really important to me and put the rest in my sale box.

Any clothing that is in good condition, list on craigslist, take to a consignment shop or give to a friends who will wear it!!

The only thing that I would say that you should ADD to your bedroom is candles that you will use to set the ambiance in your room on those special nights.

  1. I love candles. I have the urge to do some major spring cleaning myself. I just can't wait for it to get warm enough to open the windows and let some fresh air in as I am doing it. I am your newest GFC follower and found you via 'I Love My Online GFC Friends Hop'. Have a great day!

  2. Hi :) found your site while blog hopping :) Followed you ;) hope you will follow me back.

My major clean up days in the Master Bedroom are also a bit far in between although I do try to clean up and clear the bigger areas like the sofa everyday.

I agree with you about throwing items that are really supposed to be chucked for trash. Sigh. Sometimes, though, there are cutesy items that were given to me some 10 years or so ago that I find a hard time parting ways with so they get back to the box :P
