Wordless Wednesday or not so Wordless!!



Drinking Lemon Water

I'm not talking about lemonade...with sugar added. 
Just plain water and lemon juice squeezed from a fresh lemon.
I know this may make you think of a pucker face reaction, but it's not that bad!

Why lemons?

Well here are a few good reasons:  vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. 
Those are some pretty awesome reasons to add lemon in my water!!

Most of all the books and articles I have read say to drink your lemon water this way, and that way, and this way and that way....okie dokie!!

Some say squeeze half a lemon, some say a whole lemon into a glass of water {insert pucker face now!!}
I just do it how I like it, how I know my body can handle it!

I will be completely honest, I am new to the water drinking community!! 
WHAT!!?? 
Yeah {shame face on}...I used to drink gallons of sweet tea a day...with a few glasses of Dr. Pepper..{not really gallons, but almost!}

So when I decided this year to make drinking more water apart of my new years resolutions, I really jumped head first into it! But water can get pretty boring sometimes. Not only that, I wanted to be healthier in general, so I looked up things to add to water...lemon popped out at me the most...

Here are some reasons why:
  • It helps clear my acne.
    • Lemons have a high vitamin C content, but they also have a cleansing, detoxifying, antibiotic and antioxidant effect that have dramatically helped my skin look clearer.
  • Lemons detox your liver and kidneys;
    • It liquefies the bile and also helps regulate the excess flow of bile.
    • It strengthens the liver by providing energy to the liver enzymes when they are too dilute.
    • It helps balance the calcium and oxygen levels in the liver.
  • Lemons boost your immune system
    • The high vitamin c content makes this a great way to shorten or prevent a cold
  • Gives more energy
    • In the short time I have been drinking lemon water, I have felt a difference!
  • Lemons contain pectin fiber which is very beneficial for colon health and also serves to help keep you regular.
  • It helps reducing pain and inflammation in joints and knees as it dissolves uric acid.
    • I personally haven't experience this yet, but it's worth a try!!
The list is extremely long, so for the sake of this post I included only the ones that made me want to do it!

My method for drinking lemon water is this:

I slice a lemon into wedges and store them in the fridge until I need them.
I take one wedge and squeeze the juice into the bottom of my cup,

I add my ice {I use a ton of ice!!}
Then fill with water...

I do this all day. 

I don't chug a huge glass first thing in the morning with a major concentration of lemon...I don't want to puke first thing in the morning!! HAHAHA!!

There is no right or wrong way to drink lemon water, just drink it how you like it...
and enjoy it!!!
