Fear Of God or Fear of Man

If I were to ask who fears God more than man, every one single person would raise their hands and say, "me".
But do you really?
When I say fear, I am talking about respect. Not the cowering down, being scared or frightened. But with what I am about to say, I will be applying both meanings.
The Bible says this, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28.
The scripture is saying this; man can kill only the body-God can kill both.
When you say you fear God more than man, are you speaking up to your friends and family when you see them sinning? Do you gently correct them and tell them what the Bible says about that sin?
I am GUILTY just like the rest of you. I do not always speak up. Fear of man reigns high sometimes. I do not want to offend someone, make them feel bad, hurt their feelings, or even just share for fear I will say it wrong or look silly.
Fear- it's an amazing tool of the enemy to keep us frozen, keep us from stepping out on faith, rooted in place, keeps us complacent.
But the Bible tells me this:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord"
- 2 Timothy 1:7-8
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you"
Acts 1:8
What is it you see and feel the Lord is telling you to speak out against but don't?
Who holds your whole world up by His very Word (Hebrews 1:3)??
It is time, the end is near. We need to take that power the Lord gave us and use it for His kingdom. We should stand up and speak out against sin!!
Now let me say this, I am not saying go beat your loved one down with God's Word. I am telling you to stand firm, but be rooted in LOVE (Ephesians 3:17)!!! Use a gentle, humble spirit when talking to them!!
You will do nothing but drive them further into sin and further away from God if you are hateful, mean and self-righteous about it!!
Use wisdom, pray and fast for God's direction on when and how to speak to them.
Let's be a shining light in this present darkness (2 Corinthians 4:6).
Fear God rather than fear man!!!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading this. I need to read the bible more and become more familiar with the verses. This really applied to me today as I literally just got off of a phone call thinking that I needed to speak up more. Great post!
