Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary: Book Review

*Wonderfully Messy Mom received this book in exchange for a review

This Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary has to be one of the best additions to my library!

There are over 7,000 word entries, more than 500 colorful photos and map that help bring the imagery of the Bible to life.

This morning I went on a Bible study journey that included the word study of the heart. I read my scriptures, opened this Bible dictionary and looked up the word heart. It was there, and described it perfectly. I went on more word searches, it is incredibly easy to find most words used in the Bible.

I did find there were a few words that were not included, but I think this may vary depending on the translation of Bible you use. You would just have to think if a modern day word or think if a similar word, then it works perfectly. This is not an exhaustive dictionary so you cannot expect to find every single word!!

I enjoyed the sizing of the font, sometimes tiny font is hard on the eyes. This was perfectly sized so as not to strain the eyes. I especially loved the photos that were included. When you do not live in those days, images can really bring home a basic point or enlighten that particular passage of scripture.

I also enjoyed the maps that were used. One in particular was the 40 year journey the Israelites took in the wilderness. It provided arrows depicting their route, and some commentary on this as well.

Overall this is a great addition to scripture study and very well put together!!

I give it *****(5) stars!!
