April 23, 2020

Most of us find it hard to lose weight at some point. Maybe we’ve overindulged on holiday, or we’ve got a special occasion coming up. Whatever your reason is for wanting to get rid of those extra pounds, getting started can be difficult. There are hundreds of people claiming to have the secret to weight loss, or recommending products that can help. Sometimes, these can be far from helpful. However, we’ve had a look at the best ways you can motivate yourself and start seeing results. We all love to make our own Snickerdoodle Bread but we also need to know how best to keep fit when we do overindulge!

Move more and lose more

We all know that we should be getting at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. It can be difficult to get started on a plan that works for you, but don’t despair. If you are going to use the gym, then find out if you’ll be better suited to classes or the gym itself. If you don’t have a workout buddy, classes are a great way to stay motivated and push yourself. There are so many different ones on offer that you’re bound to find one that suits you. Go swimming, go for a walk, or a hike or even buy a bicycle, the options are endless if you really want to lose that weight and get fit. Losing weight does not mean starving yourself, it means balancing life.

Go green

Drinking green tea is an easy way to get your metabolism going. Research has shown that green tea drinkers burn an extra 70 calories a day vs. non-drinkers. It also helps you get your daily water intake, which is great when you are embarking on a healthy regime. It has also been linked to lower cancer risks and improved brain power, as well as having many other health benefits.

Watch out for calories in any of your drinks!

If you enjoy going for a coffee at lunchtime, stop and consider the calories in your cup. If you have full-fat milk and chocolate, you’re adding unnecessary calories to your drinks. You won’t register it in the same way you would a bowl of pasta, for instance, but it will soon show up on the scale. The same goes for sugary soda drinks and alcohol. If you switch to sugar-free or lower calorie alternatives, you’ll soon notice the difference. You can still enjoy your food, some delicious porter and york meats or even your favourite chocolate bar!

Don’t skip your meals - vital tip!

If you think by missing breakfast, you’re going to lose weight faster then think again. When your body thinks food is in short supply, it slows down your metabolism to conserve energy. Over time, this leads to a body that becomes slower at using calories for fuel and results in extra pounds. If you find you can’t find time for breakfast, then make sure you have an energy bar or a piece of fruit with you to keep you from going hungry.
