Buffet Style

Indulge in these finger foods without feeling guilty about it:

  • Nuts and fruit are mixed on a tray or bowl that can be passed around the party to give guests an easy snack option. What makes this particular buffet idea healthy is that nuts are full of protein and fiber while fruits provide vitamins and minerals which will keep you energized for hours after eating them.

  • Grilled vegetables - zucchini, squash, eggplant, and capsicum alongside your favorite cuts of meat on skewers for easy eating while being served up by someone else in this instance.

  • Tortilla chips with salsa - these are high in calories though so make sure you don't indulge too much.

  • Quinoa salad - quinoa mixed with sweet corn tossed together with some red onion slices and avocado cubes. Tossed into a large bowl or platter to serve with appetizers such as buffalo shrimp from above. It'll be an excellent addition to any appetite platter.

  • Fruity party mix - this appetizer is sure to be a hit at any party. You can pick up the ingredients from your local grocery store or make it yourself for an original DIY appetizer that will impress guests.

    • Here's how you do it: take one cup of mixed dried fruit and pour in some apple cider vinegar, add a dash of cinnamon (you could also use ground ginger), and honey too. Stir together well then let the mixture sit overnight before serving tomorrow so all those flavors blend even better than they already did when you first made them by accident.

Buffalo Shrimp Recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Put shrimp in front of the fridge for 15 minutes then pat dry with paper towels and place each one on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Sprinkle them lightly with salt and pepper before adding buffalo sauce over top (the buffalo sauce contains low-fat ingredients like yogurt instead of mayonnaise so this is one application your guests will love guilt-free!)

  3. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven and enjoy! These make a great alternative to fried shrimp that are laden with unnecessary calories.

Party Tip:

Punches are a great idea for your party. You can serve them in big bowls or try making some from this recipe just so you're sure they'll be healthy! You could pick up the ingredients at your local grocery store (fruit juice, club soda, and sugar) or make it yourself by mixing one cup of apple cider vinegar with three cups of fruit juice (any type will work). Add two cans of carbonated water to the mix as well - that should do the trick! It's an easy way to ensure everyone has something refreshing on hand when all those buffalo shrimp get eaten up too quickly!
